This week we received a new book that might interest all of our patrons who are pet lovers - Dog Medicine: How My Dog Saved Me From Myself by Julie Barton. This is the inspiring memoir of a young woman who suffered from severe depression. She went to several psychiatrists and therapists who tried to help her. Her family also did everything they could to help her. Nothing seemed to work and she sunk deeper into a suicidal depression. Then she decided to do one hopeful thing – she adopted a Golden Retriever puppy and named him Bunker. This began the long and difficult road to recovery. She discovered the ability to forgive past hurts and move forward in her life. She also found that the love of a dog can do amazing things to heal even the most broken hearts and minds.
