Libraries Southwest exists to promote and enhance libraries and library services in Southwest Louisiana.

Services:

• Reciprocal borrower’s agreement, allowing cardholders of participating library systems to also obtain library cards at other libraries participating in the reciprocal borrowing agreement (see below).
• Regional special collection development, encouraging each member library to develop one or more special interest collections. This allows residents of the region to have access to a larger collection of material than any one library system can afford to purchase.
• The list of special collections includes:
  1. Allen Parish Library — Tourism.
  2. Beauregard Parish Library — Resources for grant writing.
  3. Calcasieu Parish Library — Genealogy.
  4. Frazar Memorial Library, McNeese State University — Archival collection of historical documents reflecting the history, growth, and development of McNeese State University, Lake Charles Louisiana, and Southwest Louisiana.
  5. Vernon Parish Library — Federal and State documents, and Strong Legal Collection.
• Continuing education workshops for staff development.
• Trustee workshops.
