Get A Free State Park Pass At Your Library!

Louisiana is blessed with an abundance of natural beauty and fascinating history, and now you can explore all of that for free. All you need is your library card! Discover the beauty and history of Louisiana by checking out a state park pass and a backpack to use when exploring Louisiana.

The Check Out Louisiana State Parks access program is now available to adult cardholders at our DeRidder and South Beauregard library branches, as supplies permit. Bring your library card to your local library and ask to check out a free parks pass. The pass allows one person or one vehicle a one-day access to any of Louisiana’s 21 parks across Louisiana, as well as 14 state historic sites. Here is the list of Louisiana state parks and historic sites.

Backpack

At any Beauregard Parish Library branch, you can also ask to check out a Geaux Explore backpack (limited availability), that contains a:

• Set of binoculars
• Compass
• Magnifying glass
• Leave No Trace outdoor ethics cards
• Louisiana Amphibians Guide
• Keep Louisiana Beautiful activity book (while supplies last)

Decide which Louisiana state park or historic site to visit.

Check out: With your library card check out a state park pass and backpack.

Visit for free: Present the pass to the park ranger. The park will retain the pass upon entrance.

Admission rules:

• The pass permits one vehicle and its passengers to enter the park. However, it does not provide access to cabins, campgrounds, or other programs while at the park.
• Passes allow one-time entry and cannot be reused.
• A patron or family may only check out a pass out once every six months.
• No holds are allowed on passes, which are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
• Passes are not valid for overnight stays.

Have fun: But remember to respect our state parks. Use the backpack’s materials to leave no trace and enjoy nature responsibly.

The Beauregard Parish Library is happy to provide patrons an opportunity to check out Chromebooks and Hotspots.

The Beauregard Parish Library has several types of equipment that are available for patrons to use inside our library branches.

All of our library branches have a computer lab and a printer.

Our rural library branches: East Beauregard, Merryville, South Beauregard (Ragley), and West Central (Singer) offer fax services for patrons.

Our DeRidder library branch does not offer fax services, but here is a list of fax locations in DeRidder: Fax Locations In DeRidder.

The DeRidder library branch also has:

• An electronic magnifier (magnifying glass) in the Grants Room.
• A microfiche (microfilm) reader with Microsoft Windows computer in the Grants Room.
• A touchscreen TV in the Meeting Room or Media Room.
• A typewriter in the Grants Room.
• Online card catalog computers.
• In-house laptops.
• In-house VR headsets (to use with SkillMill only)
• A Microsoft Windows accessibility computer with an ergonomic keyboard and a touchpad (trackpad) in the Grants Room.
• LEGOs and drawing and coloring supplies in the Teen Section.
