♬The Music Minute♬

The Canadian Brass

This week's Music Minute with Freegal is brought to you by a guest staff member who has participated in orchestras, marching bands and symphonic wind ensembles. While strings might be the foundation of an orchestra, the lush tones of the brass choir are the main texture of a wind ensemble or marching band. If you want just the brass, The Canadian Brass is a great place to start.

  • Holiday music of all types are covered with albums like A Christmas Experiment and Noel. Recommended tracks: "Lo How a Rose E'er Blooming", "O Holy Night", "The Little Drummer Boy"

  • The Canadian Brass goes jazz for Take the "A" Train, featuring the music of Duke Ellington. Recommended tracks: "It Don't Mean a Thing", "The Cottontail Caper", "Take the 'A' Train"

  • For fans of Classical music, The Canadian Brass has several long works featuring arrangements of masterworks such as Bach: the Art of the Fugue, Goldberg Variations, and The Mozart Album

  • To get a general overview of the group, there are several greatest hits albums including Greatest Hits, Best of the Canadian Brass, and Canadian Brass Super Hits. Recommended tracks: "Toccata and Fugue in D Minor", "Carnival of Venice", "Amazing Grace"

Whatever your summer entertaining needs you can look on Freegal by going to the library website:www.library.beau.org and clicking on the green icon on the left called Electronic Library, then click on Music and Video or simply scroll down and click on the Freegal icon.
