New Teen Talk Program!

blog, Teen

Beginning August 25, BPL is offering a new teen program for ages 16 to 19 years old called Teen Talk!

One hour before our monthly Game Night, teens can come in and doodle, color, or chat with the programming staff and a community member that supports teens and their mental health.

Is school causing you anxiety; is a recent breakup wreaking havoc with your emotions; are you stressed about your future; is there anything else that has been heavy on your mind? Come and talk to us about it in a safe space. We may have some free resources for you, too!

After Teen Talk, stay for Game Night to unwind! This month we’re doing Card Game Mania; we’ll have games you’ve never even heard of! Have an obscure game you love? You can even bring your own.

Teen Talk will occur on the 4th Thursday of every month at the DeRidder branch. It will start at 5PM and end promptly at 6PM. Teens are welcome to stay after for Game Night, and younger teens are welcome to join at 6PM for Game Night. We hope this new program will bring teens together in a safe space and give them a place where they can decompress and work through life’s troubling moments.

DISCLAIMER: Beauregard Parish Library staff and community attendees are not therapists and are therefore not licensed to provide therapy sessions to attending teens. We are offering teens a space to talk about their issues and can refer them to counselors should the need arise.
