Come down to the DeRidder Branch for a two-afternoon conference on keeping yourself, your family, and friends safe online!

In our ever-evolving technological world, it seems like the internet becomes a more dangerous place every day. Don’t let yourself fall victim to a scam or find yourself in an unsavory area of the web! Your Library has invited professionals from a variety of local organizations – including “The Computer Tutor” and an Agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) to present their knowledge on cyber crime and how you can prevent yourself from finding yourself a victim of fraud or being hacked.

Tuesday, February 6th

  • 10-12 Train the Trainer with Tobin DeVille, “The Computer Tutor”
    • This training is for individuals in roles where they may train others on phishing prevention.
  • 1-3 Phishing Prevention with Tobin DeVille, “The Computer Tutor”
  • 3:30-4:30 Detective Sylvester Denmond with BPSO
  • 4:30-5:30 Online Banking Safety with CSE Federal Credit Union

Wednesday, February 7th

  • 1:00 FBI Agent Emerson on Cyber Crime
  • 2:00 Attorney William Jones (Acadiana Legal Services) on Consumer Safety
  • 3:30 Rusty Havens (SWLA Abolitionists) on Youth Online Safety
