Craft Club (Zero Waste Workshop)

April 6 @ 10:30 am - 11:30 am

sample of craft supplies

March 30 is International Day of Zero Waste! We’ll be celebrating a bit belatedly with a Zero Waste Workshop on April 6! Through a variety of crafts and DIYs, you’ll learn to reduce your waste and to make your own custom resources – including health and beauty products and up-cycling old and tired household items.

Why should you craft?

Crafting can be much more than just a hobby – it can prove to be a therapeutic exercise to improve mental health, and an outlet for creativity.

A recent article from PsychCentral lists the mental health benefits crafters experience, including improved:

  • Empathy
  • Mood
  • Quality of Life
  • Resilience
  • Self-Esteem

In addition to these benefits, crafting is also thought to offset the symptoms of disorders such as anxiety disorders, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), and even schizophrenia.

So what are you waiting for? Come to our DeRidder Branch and partake in a relaxing craft. And remember: Library programs are always free!
