Join the Teen Library Council

blog, Teen

Are you in need of volunteer hours for school? Looking for some extra-curricular activities in the community?

Come check out a Teen Library Council meeting! TLC meets once each month on a Tuesday, usually on the last week of the month. Every month is different, but there are things that happen consistently. These include but are not limited to: help pack grab-n-go kits, help with event preparations (we always need lots of help in October for Booregard, our biggest event of the year), discuss future events, and learn some of the key responsibilities of library staff in the form of helping to organize the Teen Room.

As a TLC member, you’ll even have the opportunity to offer assistance in some of our bigger events, like Booregard and our Summer Reading Program Kick-Off! Just be careful a dinosaur doesn’t get you in the process.

To wrap up a successful council year, there’s a TLC party at the library! This past May, members got to eat pizza, drink sodas, and play games while jamming to some awesome music. They even got a cool thank you gift for all of their help throughout the school year.

If you’re still not convinced, TLC looks GREAT on college applications! This is just the kind of thing that colleges look for when selecting the best applicants.

Teen Library Council runs from September through May. Applications can be found here.
