Sept 3 SERVICE UPDATE: In DeRidder, our adult level collections (fiction and non-fiction) and shelving units are disordered as we make room for new carpet to be laid. The majority of these collections are currently accessible to staff but not the public. Please ask staff for assistance in finding the items you seek.

August 28 SERVICE UPDATE: Our Children’s room is once again open and ready for visitors. Portions of the collections in the the Teen area are also available again. We anticipate the entirety of the Teen/ YA area and study rooms to be fully open by Monday afternoon, 8/31.

August 20 FACILITY & SERVICE Update: The DeRidder branch has reopened as of this morning, though construction continues. The public computer lab, portions of the building’s WiFi, and the copier/printer are not yet back online. The DeRidder branch YA area and all items housed in it are currently unavailable as are the 3 study rooms next to the YA area. We expect them all to be available again next Wed/Thur). 4pm Update: The wifi, printer/copier and half of the public computers are back up and running.
Beginning next Monday (8/24), the DeRidder branch will delay opening to the public until noon on Mondays through Fridays to allow the floor crew time to run the floor grinder in the public areas of the Library. Saturday hours will remain 9am – 1pm. The crew will work as expeditiously as possible to let us return to our normal opening time as soon as possible (the outside estimate is no later than Sept 21). All other branches will remain open their normal hours. Expect rotating sections of the collection to be temorarily unavailable as the crew moves through “the stacks.” Thank you, again, for your patience and willingness to help us bring this “glow up” to fruition!

August FACILITY & SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT (8/10 9am): The DeRidder branch is closing to the public at 3:30 today due to construction issues. We anticipate reopening as usual tomorrow morning. The DeRidder children’s room will remain closed this week while the crew starts working on the floors. However, the majority of the collection from that room is temporarily in the main room of the library and IS available for browsing / checkout. The new reader nonfiction (XNF) and chapter books (PF) collections, though, are unavailable for a little longer. Staff are happy to help locate and/or place reservations on specific items, so please ask for help!

7/31 FACILITY UPDATE: The men’s and women’s public restrooms are ready for use again. The children’s restroom is temporarily unavailable; young children may need parental assistance to use the full size restrooms in the meantime.

FACILITY UPDATE: The men’s and women’s public restrooms will be closed for painting from about midday Wednesday, 7/29, for a few days. Nearby restrooms are located at the south end of the Beauregard Museum building (120 S Washington) and at the volley ball court (401 S Washington). For young children, ask at the front desk for a key to the kids’ bathroom.

SERVICE UPDATE: The DeRidder YA (teen) area and the adjacent study rooms will be unavailable between 6/26 and 7/4 (estimated end date). Newer and award-winning items from the collections kept in this area will be temporarily shelved elsewhere in the building. Unfortunately, space does not allow us to temporarily relocate the full collections, so some of these items will be inaccessible. Our digital collections remain available, and our Request an Item feature can be used to get any of these titles to you as soon as possible once they are accessible again.

Beginning June 15, our DeRidder branch will be a work-in-progress while we upgrade our carpets and painting, which haven’t been updated since the building’s original construction in the mid-1990s. While some areas may be temporarily unavailable, the library will remain open as much as possible throughout construction.
