Father Delivers
It didn't seem heavy. I'd worn it so long.
The load seemed in balance. It proved I was strong.
And I want to be good, to be sure I don't fall,
A child You can count on to help with it all.
So how in this effort did I fail to see
The cross that I carried was fashioned by me?
The post of old habits I'd worked to resist;
The crossbar of goals I tried not to miss.
Born to new life, I am Royalty's heir
Yet bound to the earth by this burden I bear.
I called it my cross & I carried it long.
You named it a burden and You named it gone.
Old thoughts truly gone; new joy now in place.
You arranged all of that. I just seek your face.
For a child of the King, change comes by birth
And not in conforming to standards of earth.
No matter how lofty, how good or how tall
Self-changing efforts are no use at all.
You transform & conform as Your Image comes true.
My part is so easy - just being in You.
And now a word from our Sponsor:
So here's what I want you to do, God helping you; Take your everyday,
ordinary life -- your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, walking around
life -- and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does
for you is the best thing you can do for Him. Don't become so
well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking.
Instead, fix your attention on God. You'll be changed from the inside out.
Readily recognize what He wants from you, and quickly respond to it.
Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of
immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well formed maturity
in you. Romans 12:1-2 (The Message)
Think about it...
My culture in this world includes religion. We must be especially careful
not to allow religious structure to take God's place in our lives.
Instead, we continually focus on God, allowing Him to change and mature
us from the inside out.
