Can you imagine what it is like to loose your home and all your possessions in a fire? Put yourself in the place of a 6 year old being taken into state custody. Maybe you know from experience just how quickly tragedy can change your life.

Jesus left instructions for His followers to share His love with others who are in need of help.

Zipper bag ministries use gallon size zip lock bags filled with inexpensive necessities to share God's love with people who are facing difficult situations.

You can provide practical physical and spiritual help to victims of fire and other disasters. Read over the project descriptions. Trust God to show you who needs the bags you prepare. Use the suggested supply lists for adults and/or children as suggestions. You can trust that God will show you what really needs to be in your bags.

The most important supply in any bag is your love. Pray for the people who will receive the bags.

You can encourage community businesses and agencies to donate supplies for your bags. If you do this, include a 'thank you' list giving credit for the donations in each bag. For example, have gotten soap and shampoo from an area hotel.

• Work with local fire departments to distribute bags of supplies to people who lose their homes or must be evacuated. The fire departments carry the bags in their emergency response vehicles, give the bags out as needed and let you know when the supply of bags is running low.
• Suggest that law enforcement officers and child protection workers carry bags to give to children who must be taken into protective custody.
• Work with local shelters to distribute bags to the homeless.
