Tropical Storm Bonnie - GOHSEP Tropical Weather Update 10 PM 22 July 2010
At 10 PM CDT, the center of Tropical Storm Bonnie was located near latitude 23.4 north and longitude 76.5, or about 165 miles southeast of Nassau and about 385 miles east-southeast of Key West, Florida moving toward the northwest near 14 mph. A turn toward the west-northwest and a faster forward speed are forecasted on Friday. On this track, the center of Bonnie is expected to pass near or over the Florida Keys and the southern Florida peninsula on Friday and move into the eastern Gulf of Mexico Friday night and Saturday. Maximum sustained winds are near 40 mph with higher gusts. Slow strengthening is possible during the next 48 hours. Tropical storm force winds extend outward up to 45 miles, mainly to the northeast, of the center. Estimated minimum central pressure is 1007 mb, 29.74 inches.
Tropical Storm Bonnie is projected to remain a tropical storm making landfall with maximum sunstained winds of 50 mph.
Based on the current information, H Hour for Louisiana has been set at 1 AM Sunday with projected landfall between 12 and 2 PM Sunday.

In preparation for Tropical Storm Bonnie, Governor Jindal has issued a Declaration of a State of Emergency for Louisiana (48 BJ 2010 dated 22 July 2010).
