Needs
Update Sept 15 Evacuees who are moving out of the shelters and
into homes are in need of household items including:
- Pots, pans and kitchen utensels
- Dishes and silverware
- Washing detergent and cleaning supplies
- Brooms, mops and buckets
- Health and personal care supplies
- Bedding, towels and washcloths
- Small appliances and furnishings
This is a current list of things that are needed for the
shelters. Unless other instructions are given below, please take
everything to the old K-Mart building in DeRidder. They
are distributing everything to the shelters as it is needed.
At this time, the distribution center has more than enough of
most types of clothing. The clothing items which are still needed
are listed below.
We are becoming an area distribution shelter so all help is
appreciated.
- Air Conditioners and Fans Our local housing office has
gotten permission to use open units to house evacuees even if they
were not in HUD housing prior to the storm. Local utilities have
waived deposits. The units have a refrigerator and stove but they
really need air conditioners or fans.
- Dry Creek and Emory Wallace camps could each use a 15 passenger van
for the next few weeks to help shuttle people. Please contact the
camp directly if you can offer one.
- Canned goods. Especially gallon cans by the case.
- Baby supplies such as formula, infant asprin or tylenol,
and all varieties of baby food and junior food. The dry
formula would be especially welcomed.

- Hair Conditioner
- Hair Brushes
- Men's Underwear (new) All Sizes
- Men's Walking Shorts
- Ladies Bras All Sizes
- Baby Items: Food, powered formula, diapers, pull ups
Cribs, and Baby swings.
- Phone cards
- Bottled water
- Food and beverages
- Bedding: cots, sheets, pillows, pillow cases
- Towels, washclothes
- Personal care products (shampoos, razors, deodarant)
- Baby formula, diapers, baby food
- School uniforms
- Folding playpens or cribs
- Cleaning supplies
- Pet food
