Using Web Mail
The easiest way to handle E-Mail is to use the Web Mail link from the
Library's Home Page.
This service allows you to send or receive mail from any location
which offers an Internet connection - anywhere in the world.
- Go to the home page.
- Click Web Mail.
- Log in using your login name and password.
- Send and receive mail using the instructions on the page.
Using POP3 E-Mail
Another easy way to handle E-Mail under
Windows is to use a POP3
Mail Client (such as
Eudora,
or Pegasus Mail for
Windows). In order to configure your POP3 Mail CLient you will need
the following information:
POP3 Server : mail.beau.lib.la.us
SMTP Server : mail.beau.lib.la.us
Account Name : your login name
Password : your password
E-Mail Address: <account>@beau.lib.la.us
Domain Suffix : beau.lib.la.us
Using Pine In A Telnet Session
From the terminals or staff computers
inside the library, select "E-Mail and Internet"
from the menu.
From the computers inside the library, select "Odin - Library
Mail Server" from the Bookmarks in Netscape
From off-site computers, you can use a Windows based mail client
(see "POP3" instructions above) or you can telnet to odin.beau.lib.la.us
and use these instructions
After you have establised the connection with odin through one
of these methods, follow these instructions:
- Login using the username you selected when you set up your account
with the Library.
- Give your password when asked
- If you get to a $ prompt, type the word pine and then press the ENTER
key
- From the Pine menu, you can send, receive, print and manage
mail messages. For more information, see the
Eudora and Pine Tutorial From the Chapman University Library.
