Setting up your Internet Account with Windows 7
You should have the following items before beginning:

A computer with Windows 7, in good working order.

A modem, connected to a working telephone jack, properly
installed in your system and configured in Windows.

The paperwork that was supplied when you signed up with
the Library, including your username and password.

You may require your Windows CD-ROM. (if your system
shipped with one).
STEP I:
Click the Network Connection icon in the
bottom-right hand corner of the start menu (next to the system
clock). This will bring up the Network Connection window.
Depending on how your computer is set up, it may look like either of the
icons below.
STEP II:

Click Open Network and Sharing Center at
the bottom of the Network Connection Window.
STEP III:

Click Set up a new connection or network In the
Network and Sharing Center.
STEP IV:

1. Click Set up a dial-up
connection.
2. Click Next.
STEP V:

- Enter the telephone number for the dialup you plan to use.
- Most of Beauregard Parish can call this number toll free: 462-9420.
If you can dial that as a local number, enter it in the
Dial-up phone number area.
- If that number is long distance from your location, you may be able to use:
725-4484 or 725-3768 toll free.
Warning: It is your responsibility to ensure that
the telephone number you enter is toll free from your calling area. If
you enter a long distance number with the area code, your computer
will dial that number and the phone company will charge you for long
distance calls.
- Enter the username and Password the Library
assigned to you. Be Very careful to enter them as assigned. Most
problems with login are due to incorrect password or username.
- In the Connection name box enter a name for this
connection. You can enter Library or whatever you would like to call it.
- Click connect and a window will show that the connection is being dialed.

Step VI:

To reconnect to this dial-up connection in the
future, click the Network Connection icon in the bottom-right hand corner
of the start menu, click Library (or whatever you typed in the connection
name box), and then click the connection button.
