Beauregard Parish Library Internet Setup Instructions
These instructions should allow you to easily
setup your computer to connect to your account at the Library. They are
organized as sets of step by step instructions with accompanying screen
shots to accomplish the required tasks. Due to the variation in Windows
some of the tasks have more than one set of instructions to match the
differences in Windows.
IMPORTANT:
Most of the viruses in the last three years have depended
on Outlook Express and/or Internet Explorer to propagate.
When a home computer connected to us by dialup has a virus, it
can cause problems on the state-wide library
network. If we receive a complaint from the state that one of our users
is disturbing the network, we are required to shutdown the dialup lines
until we can isolate the source of the attack.
For this reason, we strongly request that anyone connecting to our
dialup lines avoid the use of Internet Explorer and Outlook Express.
If you are using our install CD-ROM set, Mozilla or Seamonkey will be installed to handle
browsing and e-mail. You do not need to read the rest of this page.
If you do not use our install CD-ROM set, please follow the
