Summer is here and for many people that means camping. If you are one of those people and are looking for some new and different meals to cook around your camp fire, check out a new book the library added this week:
The Campout Cookbook: Inspired Recipes for Cooking Around the Fire and Under the Stars by Marnie Hanel and Jen Stevenson.
While it is always fun just to roast some hot dogs over the fire, that can get old quickly on a long camping trip. This unique book takes us way beyond the typical camp fare and shows how to create delicious meals to tempt all campers. You will find recipes for things like wood fired skillet pizza, chorizo skillet nachos, Dutch oven roast chicken, and forest fondue. Along with detailed directions, the book gives helpful hints for building the correct fire and making sure you have everything you need. In fact, there are all sorts of tips for every aspect of camping. This makes it perfect for those new to the adventure, but even seasoned campers will find helpful information to improve their experience.
This book is found in the non-fiction section in Dewey number 641, along with our many, many other cookbooks. So, check it out and have a great camping experience.
