If you often attend potluck or covered dish dinners and are looking for some new ideas for dishes to bring, check out a new book that was added to the library’s collection this week - Bring It! Tried and True Recipes for Potlucks and Casual Entertaining by Ali Rosen.
This book contains lots of recipes that show how easy it can be to bring delicious dishes to share with a group. It has easy to follow instructions and beautiful full-color pictures of many of the mouth-watering favorites. Each recipe also has a note explaining the best way to make the dish ahead of time and transport it to the event, as well as how to reheat it properly.
The book begins by discussing different types of get-togethers and how to best plan an event where everyone brings food. It talks about different locations and coordinating the menu so that the dishes compliment each other. It also has tips for food safety and adjusting the recipes for the number of guests attending. The recipes are divided into chapters for hors d’oeuvres and dips, salads, casseroles, meats, veggies, and desserts.
This book can be found in the non-fiction section of the library in Dewey number 641. This is a very large section and contains all sorts of cookbooks, so you may enjoy browsing and finding others that interest you.
