The Best of Adam Sharp by Graeme Simsion

This book is told from the perspective of Adam Sharp as he nears 50. He remembers the passionate romance he had as young man in Melbourne, Australia, when he was there as a database consultant in 1989. He remembers it well as his great love with the one who got away. In the second half of the book, Adam and Angelina reconnect with each other, but with very messy consequences.

I did struggle with some parts of the book, and I can't recommend this without warning that it does involve cheating on a spouse and long-term partner. If that is not a deal breaker, you may enjoy the story. The ending has a natural outcome and makes sense for these characters.

This is a well-written book, and as a musician, I loved all the music references. The best audience for this book would likely be music lovers and foodies and people in their 40s or older. People interested in Australia may also find something to enjoy since the past remembrance is set in Melbourne with vivid detail.

If The Best of Adam Sharp interests you, feel free to request or check it out. We'll be back next Thursday with a different Staff Pick.
