The Beauregard Parish Library Board of Control will meet in a regularly called session at 4:45 PM on Monday Aug 3, 2020. This meeting will take place virtually via the Cisco WebEx platform, as allowed by the Governor’s executive order JBE 2020-30, in consideration of the social distancing guidelines in place due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Pursuant to the “Sunshine Laws” (La R.S. 42:14), meetings of this board are open to the public unless “Executive Session” is noted.

During Phase 2, the Beauregard Parish Library is open with limited hours and limited services. Additional details can be seen here. Within those limitations, further closures may become necessary on short notice due to staff shortages. We will update our social media accounts in those instances. Patrons are also welcome to call 337-463-6217 x 0 during the DeRidder branch's open hours for the most recent updates on branch openings. Computer use is limited and by appointment only. Patrons can schedule appointments online here or by calling 337-463-6217 or in-person by asking a library clerk. Appointments are set at 45-minute intervals. No consecutive appointments for 1 person.

Money Smart Week Events

Beauregard Parish Library is helping our patrons celebrate Money Smart Week. We have several activities this week for different ages to help you get the best out of your money. We hope to see you there!

What's in a will?: Wednesday, April 26 at 1:00 pm in the DeRidder branch Rotary Meeting Room

Join a local attorney and learn general information about wills. Who should have one? What goes into making a will? What constitutes a legal will in Louisiana? Learn all this and more!

Winning With Stocks - An Introduction to Fundamental Investing: Thursday, April 27 at 6:00 pm in the DeRidder branch Rotary Meeting Room

The stock market has its ups and downs, buffeted by perceptions. However, over the long haul good companies are always profitable. By buying stocks, that is “pieces” of those good companies, you can increase the value of a portfolio over time. This program is for individuals interested in learning how to get started in the stock market and for those who would likea reliable approach for purchasing stocks.

In this session, designed for beginners, we will introduce you to guidelines for building a long-term portfolio made up of high quality stocks with strong growth characteristics. Resources for finding potential stock picks will be provided. Key characteristics of winning stocks will be covered. We will also demystify some of the language of the stock market.

This program is presented by the Louisiana-Mississippi Chapter of BetterInvesting, a non-profit, volunteer-based, member-driven organization for investor education.

Preventing and Recovering from ID Theft: Friday, April 28 at 10:00 am in the DeRidder branch Rotary Meeting Room

If you become the victim of identity theft, what steps should you take and what does the process on the road to recovery look like? Deputy Matt Barrett of BPSO shares the story from the law enforcement perspective. Library director Erin Chesnutt also shares tips & resources for keeping your privacy intact and your identity safe.
