April is National Poetry Month, and Beauregard Parish Library is proud to bring you different poetry-related resources year round.

  • We have a classic collections of poetry in our non-fiction sections at at Dewey numbers 808.81 and 811. Librarian tip: The numbers are the same whether you find a book or DVD or other format.
  • We have a subscription to Columbia Granger's World of Poetry, the essential poetry collection. The Columbia Granger’s World of Poetry contains 250,000 poems in full text and 450,000 citations, numbers that will continually expand with each update. The poems in full text are the most widely-read in the English language, as well as in Spanish, French, German, and Italian.
  • If you want help with literature and criticism, we have that, too, with our poetry materials in Gale Virtual Reference Library.
  • OverDrive users can find both E-books and audiobooks for poetry in the digital collection.

We have several more things to discover at the library, but we'll leave you with this short video ("The Power of Poetry") from our Access Video on Demand collection [Note: home users may need to type in their library card numbers to view the video.]
