This week the library added several new books to our PF (Primary Fiction) collection. These books are designed for young readers who have progressed to reading chapter books. While some of them contain illustrations, they are a step up from the picture books in our XF collection. Check out these new additions:

Big Nate Goes for Broke by Lincoln Peirce. This book is part of a bestselling series based on the author’s comic strip. It follows the adventures of sixth grader Nate Wright along with his classmates and teachers. Nate is not very interested in school and enjoys playing pranks. This causes conflicts with his teacher, Mrs. Godfrey, whom he considers his nemesis. In this book, Nate is determined to find a competition that his school can win against their rival school. This is made more difficult when a broken pipe at Nate’s school forces the students to temporarily attend the other school. Eventually, Nate comes up with a plan that just might work.

The Perfect Pet Pageant: Starring Penny Ling by Lisa Shea. It is summer and time for the annual Perfect Pet Pageant. All of the pets are ready to shine. Blythe has just the right pet in mind – Penny the adorable panda. But she needs a complete makeover if she is to win. Will Penny be able to stay true to herself with all crazy workouts, false eyelashes, and outrageous clothes? This book is part of the Littlest Pet Shop series.

With the help of a talking cat named Pockets, Archie and his dad fight crime all over the universe.
