If you spent time last week learning to type, this week you can start learning the word processing program that most businesses use - Microsoft Word.

Both Universal Class and GCF Learning have classes for MS Word 2007, 2010, 2013, and 2016. You can find links to both on our Online Learning page. MS Word is not the only word processing program out there. More and more businesses are moving to Apache OpenOffice, and its clone brother LibreOffice. You can take the skills learned from the MS Word classes, and apply them to OpenOffice or LibreOffice, since both take great care to keep themselves similar to MS Word. Their advantage is that they're free: you can download them to your home computer and get to practicing (or practice here in the Library, since all of the patron computers have LibreOffice on them!)

Familiarity with MS Word, and word processing in general, is a valuable job skill that many employers are asking for. If you're looking for a job, this is a good one to build and list on your resume!
