During Phase 2, the Beauregard Parish Library is open with limited hours and limited services. Additional details can be seen here. Within those limitations, further closures may become necessary on short notice due to staff shortages. We will update our social media accounts in those instances. Patrons are also welcome to call 337-463-6217 x 0 during the DeRidder branch's open hours for the most recent updates on branch openings. Computer use is limited and by appointment only. Patrons can schedule appointments online here or by calling 337-463-6217 or in-person by asking a library clerk. Appointments are set at 45-minute intervals. No consecutive appointments for 1 person.

Just Arrived

Check out a few of our latest large print additions to the library collection. Large print books are great for people who have trouble with the tiny print in some books. Enjoy these great stories with no strain on your eyes.

Flight Patterns by Karen White. Georgia Chambers is a fine china expert who has vowed never to return to her family home on the coast of Florida. A customer brings in his grandmother’s china and asks for information about it. Georgia is not able to find anything, but she thinks she remembers her grandfather having some of the same pattern. Her boss insists that she go home and find out what she can about the china. Upon arriving, she must deal with her estranged sister, her mentally ill mother, and her grandfather who is beginning to suffer from dementia. She realizes that something has been missing in her life and she needs to heal the rifts and become part of the family again.

The Weekenders by Mary Kay Andrews. Some people stay all summer long on the idyllic island of Belle Isle, North Carolina, while others only come for the weekends. Riley Griggs is expecting her husband to arrive on the ferry one Friday afternoon. Instead, she is served with papers stating that her island home is being foreclosed. Her husband never arrives. She turns to her island friends for support, but they are not much help. Riley must investigate her husband’s disappearance alone and discover the secrets of Belle Isle and the man she may not really know.

Tall Tail: A Mrs. Murphy Mystery by Rita Mae Brown and Sneaky Pie Brown. In the middle of a storm, Harry Haristeen nearly collides with a careening car that swerves into a ditch. The dead driver is Barbara Leader, who was a nurse and confidante to the former governor. Her death is ruled a heart attack, but there are many who are not so sure. She had been in perfect health. Then there is a baffling break-in that might be related to the death. It is up to Harry and her feline detectives, Mrs. Murphy, Pewter, and Tee Tucker to discover and expose the truth.
