If you or someone you know has recently been diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes, you probably have lots of questions. One of the most important parts of treating the disease is changing the diet. But it can be confusing to know how to best accomplish this.
This week we added a new book to our collection that may help - What Do I Eat Now: A Step-by-Step Guide to Eating Right With Type 2 Diabetes by Tami A. Ross and Patti B. Geil. The authors are registered dietitians who are experts in the field of diabetes education. They take the mystery out of planning nutritious meals that are key to diabetes control. The book is full of tips, tactics, recipes and menus. There is information on carbohydrate intake, portion control, reading nutrition labels, shopping strategies and how to handle eating out and special occasions. It is a straightforward guide that will help you take the first steps toward a healthy life with diabetes.
Along with this book we have many other resources for people who are facing this challenging condition. Be sure to ask a staff member if you need help locating this material.
