Knowledge, Growth, Imagination

During Phase 2, the Beauregard Parish Library is open with limited hours and limited services. Additional details can be seen here. Within those limitations, further closures may become necessary on short notice due to staff shortages. We will update our social media accounts in those instances. Patrons are also welcome to call 337-463-6217 x 0 during the DeRidder branch's open hours for the most recent updates on branch openings. Computer use is limited and by appointment only. Patrons can schedule appointments online here or by calling 337-463-6217 or in-person by asking a library clerk. Appointments are set at 45-minute intervals. Just Arrived

If you have recently bought a new computer with Windows 10 or are considering updating to this new operating system, you may have questions. We can help! This week the library received several new books to help you learn about Windows 10.

Check out:

Windows 10 Simplified by Paul McFedries. This book is designed for those who are new to computers or are simply uncomfortable with them. It uses actual screen shots to show you how everything works. You will learn how easy it is to do all of the things you want to do with your computer including browsing the web, sending email, managing your files and much more.

Windows 10 for Seniors for Dummies by Peter Weverka. While this guide is designed for those over fifty, anyone can benefit from the easy to follow information it presents. It cuts through all of the computer jargon and tells you in plain English what you need to know to use Windows 10 on any type of device. You will soon be surfing the web, installing apps, connecting to printers and other devices, and wondering how you got along before you had this incredible tool.

Windows 10: the Missing Manual by David Pogue. This book is primarily designed for people who are familiar with previous versions of Windows and shows how this one differs. It is not as basic as the others and appears to offer more in depth information. It does contain screen shots that are helpful in illustrating the steps to follow in each section. This will give the more experienced computer user an opportunity to get the most out of Windows 10.
