With Staff Picks, we would like to offer recommendations from our staff to you. These picks will be from a variety of reading, listening or viewing tastes. You might find stuff you've checked out before, or you might be intrigued enough to find a new favorite.
Looking for God in Harry Potter by John Granger
The Potter stories are great on their own but Looking for God in Harry Potter allows you to see the deep themes Rowling is baking into these stories. I guarantee you will appreciate her writing skill and the books themselves significantly more after reading this guide.
This will help you see why the fears of many people (many of whom have never read a single Harry Potter book) are possibly misplaced. It explains why when you read the books you couldn't see what the negative warnings were all about. It points out the Christian themes in the books and allows you to make a more informed decision regarding the Harry Potter book controversy and then decide whether to read them or let your children read them.
If this title interests you, feel free to request and check it out. We'll be back next Wednesday with a different Staff Pick.
