Many of our patrons have discovered that we have an extensive collection of cookbooks. We have something for just about everybody – from diabetics to vegetarians, from people with allergies to those watching their salt or gluten. We also have cookbooks for special occasions and for those who are too busy to spend a lot of time in the kitchen.
This week we received a unique cookbook - Aroma Kitchen: Cooking with Essential Oils by Sabine Honig and Ursula Kutschera. The authors explore the connection between the senses of taste and smell. They note that the human tongue and palate are only able to distinguish five tastes and the nose complements this. Much of what we think we taste actually comes from the smell. This book shows how to incorporate scent in the form of essential oils into our foods for a more satisfying experience that does not rely on adding fillers and chemicals. The recipes focus on using fresh ingredients (local if possible) to nourish us in a healthy way. There are easy to follow recipes for appetizers, soups, main and side dishes, desserts and even drinks. There are even color photos of many of the dishes.
So check out this, or some of our other cookbooks to enhance your cooking and dining experience!
