Book Report Season is Here!
A few months ago we did a series of Find it Fridays covering how to search BPL’s online catalog. Now that we are entering book report season we wanted to talk about where you can find resources related to your assigned topic here at BPL.
So you came to the library, where do you go next? The best place to start is the library’s online catalog. BPL no longer houses a physical card catalog. Instead, we have three computers that are specifically set up for searching the catalog, two centrally located on the main floor and one located in the Adult Fiction section. These computers can only be used to search the catalog so you can walk right up to them and start searching without having to log in. Once you are at a computer you can search a number of ways: by subject, author, title, or keyword. If you don’t know where to start try searching by keyword which will give you a wide range of results.
Once you find a resource you want just make sure to take a look at the location of the item. If the call number says both DeRidder and stacks (Available) then the item should be here at the DeRidder branch for you to find today! A library employee will gladly help if you have any questions about how the library is set up or how the call numbers work!
If the item you want is currently checked out or at another branch you can place it on hold by asking a staff member or using your username and password to do it yourself. Next week we will walk through logging into your account via the catalog either from home or the library. Happy Reading!
