Do you have dietary restrictions that make it difficult to find new and exciting meal ideas? The library can help. We have all sorts of specialty cookbooks filled with recipes geared toward almost any type of diet. Check out some of our recent additions.
Vegan Holiday Cooking from Candle Cafe by Joy Pierson, Angel Ramos and Jorge Pineda. This is a collection of vegan recipes for holidays including Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s Eve, Valentine’s Day, Passover, Easter, Cinco de Mayo, and even Super Bowl Sunday. With colorful pictures of many of the dishes, readers will be able to create meals that “feed the body, nourish the soul, and protect the animals” (from inside front cover).
The Grain Brain Cookbook by David Perlmutter, MD. If you are on a gluten-free diet, you will want to check out this collection of more than 150 delectable recipes. The meals included in this book are wholesome, delicious and easy to prepare. The recipes have been collected by noted neurologist David Perlmutter, who has written several books on the benefits of a gluten-free diet, and has won several awards for his work.
The Gluten-Free Italian Vegetarian Kitchen by Donna Klein. If you enjoy Italian food, but want to make healthier dishes, this might be a good book for you. It contains more than 225 recipes for traditional Italian dishes that are meat-free, wheat-free and gluten-free. It contains the nutrition facts for each recipe, making it easier to insure that you are following the guidelines for your diet.
These are just a few of the special cookbooks that the library has available. Check out Dewey number 641 of the non-fiction section for many others that are designed for many different needs. As always, ask any staff member if you need help finding something for your particular diet.
