During Phase 2, the Beauregard Parish Library is open with limited hours and limited services. Additional details can be seen here. Within those limitations, further closures may become necessary on short notice due to staff shortages. We will update our social media accounts in those instances. Patrons are also welcome to call 337-463-6217 x 0 during the DeRidder branch's open hours for the most recent updates on branch openings. Computer use is limited and by appointment only. Patrons can schedule appointments online here or by calling 337-463-6217 or in-person by asking a library clerk. Appointments are set at 45-minute intervals. No consecutive appointments for 1 person.

Finding What You Want In Overdrive
Is the new book you want to read checked out at the library? Have you checked Overdrive yet? Overdrive is the library’s e-book platform that houses some of the newest books on the market. For this series of Find it Fridays we wanted to go into detail about searching Overdrive for the items you want. The process of downloading books can vary depending on the device you are using, so this series will discuss how to find the e-books and audio books you’re looking for! You can always ask the library staff if you have questions regarding how to download your items.
Getting to Overdrive from the BPL website: You’re already halfway there! If you are reading this from the library homepage your next step is to click on the Overdrive link on the left hand side of the page. Once Overdrive opens you have a few options in the way you can search for materials.
Using the Search Box: The search box is located at the top right hand corner of the Overdrive homepage. If you already have the title or author you want you can simply click within that box and enter your search. Don’t worry if the word “search” doesn’t go away, when you start typing it will disappear. Once you have entered the title or the author’s name you simply click enter and the results screen will appear. Next week we will discuss using the Advanced Search option to better search for specific genres and authors!
