This week we received several new books that might interest animal lovers.
Top Dog: The Story of Marine Hero Lucca, by Maria Goodavage. This is the account of a decorated and highly skilled working dog who hunts for lethal threats to our military. Lucca is a German shepherd – Belgian Malinois mix who has served several deployments with her Marine handlers. She has saved countless lives and survived countless harrowing adventures in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Catrification: Designing a Happy and Stylish Home for Your Cat (And You!) by Jackson Galaxy and Kate Benjamin. Jackson Galaxy is the star of the popular television program My Cat From Hell, and Kate Benjamin runs the cat design website Hauspanther.com. Together they show readers how to design an attractive home that is also a great environment for cats. The book contains full-color photographs and fun DIY projects that will make readers – and their cats – purr in approval.
Miracle Dogs: Rescue Stories by Liz Stavrinides. This book celebrates and honors rescuers and the dogs whose lives they have saved. It showcases rescue organizations and individuals who have helped these dogs become part of a family. There are inspirational stories from celebrity pet owners as well as everyday people who have made a difference in the lives of these wonderful animals.
Look for these and other great animal books in the non-fiction section of the library. As always, any staff member can help you find books about whatever animal interests you.
