Black History Month was founded by the Association for the Study of African American Life and History. The history of the event goes back to 1926 when Carter G. Woodson established Negro History Week. That week expanded to the month-long observation we know today.
Each year a different theme is featured, and this year’s theme is Civil Rights in America. We have some physical and digital resources that will be of use for those researching this topic for school or personal interest.
